MONALEEN are still in with a chance of reaching the knockout stages of the Limerick SFC after they beat St Senan’s on a scoreline of 0-14 to 1-8 on Sunday.
Having picked up just one point from their opening three games, the champions were looking at an early exit ahead of Sunday’s game but inspired by Graham O’Connell and Ger Collins, they fif just enough to pull through.
The play Newcastle West in the final game where they’ll need a win and hope that Ballysteen can do them a favour and beat Ballylanders. St Senan’s still have a chance of reaching the knockout stages too but they will have to beat Drom-Broadford and hope that Newcastle West and Ballysteen both win.
Monaleen were 0-8 to 0-3 ahead at the break but a Darren Kavangh goal in the second half brought the Foynes side back into contention. Monaleen held steady though and were thankful to veteran Brian Geary for a late block that helped ensure the three-point win.
