JUST a week after winning the Limerick title again, Dromcollogher-Broadford bowed out of the Munster Club SFC when they were beaten by Cork champions Castlehaven by 1-15 to 0-7 in Clonakilty on Sunday.

While the Limerick champions were always chasing the game, the turning point arrived on 49 minutes. Drom were losing 0-10 to 0-6 when Castlehaven sub Shane Nolan landed the game’s only goal.

And things got worse for Drom when Mike Boyce was given his marching orders before the kickout could be taken after he got involved with Brian Hurley. There was no way back from there as Castlehaven added five more points before the final whistle and Drom could only add one in response.

Castlehaven played with the wind in the opening half and midfielder Diarmuid Hurley got them off the mark in the opening seconds. Drom played with an extra man in defence in the opening half but Castlehaven were still well on top and were 0-6 to 0-0 up after ten minutes.

Drom finally got going and points from Derry McCarthy, Michael Reidy (two) and Garrett Noonan meant they were only 0-7 to 0-4 down at the break.

Points from Michael Brosnan and Jason Stokes kept Drom in touch in the second half but the game ended as a contest when Nolan struck for that decisive goal.

There was no way back for Drom from there.
