Newcastle West and Patrickswell are the novel pairing for today’s Limerick Junior A Football Championship Final.

At the end of June Newcastle West’s second string defeated St Patrick’s to win the County Junior B League.

Today’s final takes place in Ballyagran at 3.00.

Standing between them and a double is a Patrickswell side chasing a rare county football title.

Indeed their last county football title was Junior A success in 1978.

Managed by Michael Woulfe, with Kevin O’Brien, Joe Tierney and Paul O’Connor, The Well are captained by Mark Griffin at full back.

Leading their charge will be Barry Foley, Lar Considine, Seanie O’Brien and Mark Carmody.

Newcastle West are led by player-manager James Hennessy with Brendan Stack as selector.

They have lost a number of players to their senior team since the league win but still have experience in Declan Brouder, John Lydon and Conor Fitzgerald.

They lost the west final to Feenagh-Kilmeedy but bounced back to beat Camogue Rovers and Fedamore.

Also key to their plans to finally make the break through will be Cian Sheehan, Sean Barrett and Keith Power and captain Jonathan Carey.
