WEST Limerick Colleges booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Corn Ui Mhuiri competition thanks to a comprehensive 4-13 to 0-4 win over North Clare in Meelick on Wednesday afternoon.
It is the first year that the secondary schools in Dromcollogher, Rathkeale and Abbeyfeale have joined forces to compete in the premier football competition in Munster so to come second in their group, behind Dingle CBS is a considerable achievement. They will play one of the group winners in the quarter-final at the end of January.
Eoin Oâ€™Donnell was the top scorer with 1-4 while Jason Oâ€™Connor, Cathal Broderick and Jonathan Lyons also helped themselves to a goal each. The Limerick side is managed by teachers; Garrett Noonan (Rathkeale), David Keannelly (Abbeyfeale), Diarmuid Oâ€™Connell (Abbeyfeale) and Diarmuid Crowley (Newcastle West).
