MEMBERS of the Limerick senior football panel have led a group of 62 up Ireland’s highest peak.

The Carrauntoohil climb was organised by the footballers to raise funds for their training fund and for underage football development.

The climbing party included players, members of management, football board officials, family, friends and supporters.

“The banter and camaraderie among the group only epitomised all that is good about Limerick football,” explained Limerick footballer Seanie Buckley.

He paid special thanks to the members of the public who joined them on the climb and he also thanked all those who sponsored players.

“Conor Fitzgerald and his family of Fitzgerald Woodlands House Hotel and Fitzgerald’s Loaf generously sponsored the post climb refreshments. Thanks also to Michelle Stack in the Gaelic Grounds and Pat O’Shaughnessy and Owen Hayes for their help on the day,” said Buckley.

“We had six guides and thankfully everyone made it safely and enjoyed the day.”
