GALTEE GAELS
GALTEE GAELS: On Friday night last the under twenty team travelled to the Na Piarsaigh sports field in Caherdavin Limerick to play St Senan’s in the County semi final. For Galtee Gaels the hurt of a one point loss to St Senan’s three years ago was in their minds in the lead up to this game, St Senan’s set the pace with an early lead 1-1 to 0-2 before Galtee Gaels came strongly into the game and led at half time 1-7 to 1-4. In the second half Galtee Gaels done all of the scoring and ran out winners on the score of 2-15 to 1-5. The score was not a fair reflection of St Senan’s efforts as they pressed hard for scores, with the Galtee Gaels defence holding out. A very heavy shower of rain midway through the second half did not help the players as the conditions became very slippery. It was a difficult choice for six Galtee Gaels players who had to forego a football medal presentation at their school Mitchelstown CBS to play the game especially Cian Ryan who was receiving an education award for his leaving certificate, it was an unavoidable clash. Let’s hope a place in the County final will compensate for it. Galtee Gaels will play in the final on this Friday night in a return to Na Piarsaigh grounds Caherdavin at 9pm where they will play St Kierens note the time.
CAMOGIE: The St Fanahan’s junior camogie team travelled to Austin Stack Park Tralee to play Cashel in the Munster final on Saturday last and came away with a win on the score of 1-9 to 1-5. The team included a number of Galtee Gaels players.
