Limerick hurlers feature in a new book by Tipperary man Eddie Ryan

LIMERICK'S all-conquering hurlers are featured in a new book titled 'The 50 Toughest Meanest Scariest Hard-Men in Hurling History'.

William O'Donoghue, Diarmaid Byrnes, Aaron Gillane, Declan Hannon, Tom Condon, Phil Bennis and Gearóid Hegarty are all mentioned in the book written by Tipperary's Eddie Ryan.

The book is produced by former Meath gaelic footballer Liam Hayes and gives an insight into some of hurling's greatest characters, past and present. The book is available in all good book shops and online.

The following is an extract from the book about Knockaderry's Tom Condon.

"He knew he was near his journey's end. It was time to usher in a new generation. He had  hurled his heart out in Limerick’s darkest hours. Now it was time to take the ‘Treaty’ back into the light.

"As the ball dropped - the moment appeared suspended in an eternal second. Tom Condon kept his eyes trained firmly on the ball. He had been preparing all his life for this. He took flight - suspended halfway between heaven and hell. Tom Condon and Limerick were seconds out from immortality."
