Aaron Gillane has been named as Munster GAA's Hurler of the Year

THE YEAR keeps getting better and better for Limerick star Aaron Gillane after he was named Munster GAA's Senior Hurler of the Year for 2023.
The Patrickswell forward had already picked up the PWC Hurler of the Year and All-Star and has now picked up the provincial award as well.
Gillane helped guide Limerick to their fourth All-Ireland title in-a-row, emulating the great Kilkenny team of the 2000s and the Cork side of the 1940s.
The sharpshooter was incomparable throughout Limerick's run through Munster, where they won a fifth title in successive years before further success at Croke Park.
Gillane first came to real prominence during Mary Immaculate College's Fitzgibbon Cup win in 2017. The same year he made his Limerick senior debut and also helped the county's U21 team to Munster and All-Ireland glory.
He was also a key member of John Kiely's All-Ireland winning panel in 2018 and has gone from strength to strength ever since, culminating in his Hurler of the Year award - the third Patrickswell man to do so in as many years after Diarmaid Byrnes (2022) and Cian Lynch (2021).
