Limerick author releases GAA Game of my Life book

Limerick author David Byrne which highlights the best of Limerick hurling games

LIMERICK AUTHOR David Byrne is releasing one of a family of books titled ‘Game of my Life’ which are being published in every county in Ireland – offering a magnificent oral history of over 60 years of success and failure on the football and hurling fields within each county.

The Limerick hurling edition includes first person testimonials from some of the stars of the present ‘Golden Era’ as the brilliant team led by John Kiely has dominated the hurling landscape – and also members of the famous 1973 squad which brought home the Liam MacCarthy Cup.

In this book, published by Hero Books and compiled by David Byrne, 30 of Limerick's greatest hurlers reveal the 'one game' that defined their lives, from Pat Hartigan and Joe Quaid to Mike Casey and Dan Morrissey.

Speaking about the release of the publication, David stated "I am absolutely privileged to be able to share these 30 legends' stories and memories from hurling games in years gone by. Sitting down and having a chat with these legends of the game in Limerick and putting their memories on paper was an absolute honour and a labour of love."

"It was also timely as an avid Limerick hurling supporter to be able to look back and remember the not so successful days for Limerick while also looking back on the 1973 All-Ireland win on the 50th anniversary of that memorable day."
