THE BON Secours Limerick SHC quarter-finals take place this afternoon with both games taking place at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
First up at 2pm at the Ennis Road venue on Sunday is the meeting of Doon, who finished third in Group One and Mungret St Paul's, who topped Group Two and earned promotion thanks to their win over Ballybrown.
Doon made their way to the quarter-finals by virtue of their final group game victory against Ahane and will know that they will face a serious test today.
Fergie O'Loughlin's men have had a difficult year from an injury point of view with the likes of Richie English, Tommy Hayes, Mikey O'Brien and Josh Ryan, to name a few, all unable to play any part.
Adam English has had an excellent season, as has Darragh O'Donovan, while young guns Eddie Stokes, Donal Coughlan and and Kevin Maher have played crucial roles in getting them to this stage.
Mungret will be coming into the game with nothing to lose and have a full forward line capable of beating any team in the county.
Liam Lynch takes to the pitch on the back of 1-12 against Ballybrown last time out, while Paul O'Brien and Niall Mulcahy also pose a serious threat, while Pa Begley mops up at the back.
The second quarter-final sees Patrickswell and Ballybrown face off at 4pm. 'The Well' won three games in Group One, while Ballybrown come into the game on the back of a frustrating loss to Mungret, which ended their promotion hopes.
Patrickswell have carried a major goal threat throughout the season and that could be key to seeing off their near rivals at the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Sunday.
Ballybrown, on the other hand, will have to figure out what went wrong in the final quarter against Mungret if they are to have any hope of reaching the semi-finals.
Na Piarsaigh will play the winners of Mungret v Doon in the last four on Saturday, October 14, while Kilmallock play the winners of the Ballybrown v Patrickswell game on Sunday, October 15.
