KILMALLOCK are the team to beat after round two of the Bon Secours Hospital Limerick SHC with the only side to have two wins from their two games.
Fintan O'Connor's side have earned victories over Doon and Ahane from their games to date and sit on four points ahead of the three-week break.
Michéal Houlihan fired over nine points in their win last Thursday over Ahane but it took a second half goal from Gavin O'Mahony to turn the game in their favour. Ahane had led by two points at the break.
Elsewhere in Group 1, Patrickswell, Na Piarsaigh, Doon and Ahane are all on two points after one victory each. Kildimo-Pallaskenry are the only side without a win to their name.
Doon pulled off a bit of a shock with a 2-18 to 2-16 win over Patrickswell also on Thursday and the result has blown the championship wide open. Pat Ryan scored 1-3 for the east Limerick side with Aaron Gillane scoring the same amount of the 'The Well' but it was Doon that pulled off the win.
The final game of the group took place on Friday evening with Na Piarsaigh earning a 1-23 to 1-14 win over Kildimo-Pallaskenry in Claughaun.
The win was a crucial one for the Caherdavin side having lost that opening fixture to Patrickswell. Peter Casey and Adrian Breen scored 0-5 each, while Conor Boylan fired 1-1 for Shane O'Neill's side. Shaun Barry scored 1-5 for a Kildimo-Pallaskenry outfit that have two defeats since reaching the top tier this year.
It's much tighter in Group 2 with Mungret St Pauls, Ballybrown and Adare all on three points following the weekend action. Mungret St Paul's drew with Garryspillane, while Ballybrown and Adare couldn't be separated either.
Mungret beat South Liberties in round one but Garryspillane got their first point of the championship thanks to a late, late Bryan Heavey free.
Monaleen got their first win back at senior level by seeing off Liberties on a 2-24 to 0-14 scoreline. Donnacha Ó Dálaigh and Andrew La Touche Cosgrave scored 0-6 each, while Luke Murphy and Mark Field got the goals for Eoin Brislane's side.
Ballybrown and Adare played out a 1-17 to 1-17 draw on Sunday. Aidan O'Connor now has 2-9 from two games after scoring 1-3 for Ballybrown but Willie Griffin is up to 3-14 after two excellent performances.
Meanwhile, Bruff are leading the way in the Lyons of Limerick Premier IHC Championship with three wins from three. They hit the top with a 1-23 to 2-13 win over Na Piarsaigh on Sunday.
Effin, Na Piarsaigh and Blackrock are all on four points after the weekend action. Glenroe and Newcastle West are on two points after weekend wins.
Dromin-Athlacca are the other team on one win, while Cappamore remain rooted to bottom place after losing all three of their games to date.
