Condolences: On behalf of the club we send our condolences to Dawson family on the sad passing of Pat. Pat was a former secretary of our club and his grandchildren Cian and Donal are current players with the club. We send our thoughts and prayers to his wife Kathleen, sons Timmy, Shane, daughter Syreeta, daughter in law Fiona, son in law Finbar and all his grandchildren, extended family and friends. May he rest in peace. We are also deeply saddened and shocked to hear of the untimely passing of Greig Oliver, dad to Ciara on our senior team. Greig was a fantastic supporter of our club and was always on the sidelines supporting Ciara alongside his wife Fiona. He will be so deeply missed by us all here in Ahane Camogie. We send all our prayers and love to Fiona, Ciara and Jack at this incredibly sad time.

Limerick Hurlers: Another All Ireland awaits. Huge congratulations to Tom, Dan, Ciarán and the Limerick hurlers who secured their place in the All Ireland Final after a convincing win over Galway. Limerick SFC: Our senior footballers travelled to Rathkeale last Sunday evening aiming to pick up their first points of the championship against a Claughaun side who had also suffered an opening round defeat. While Fr Caseys ran county champions Newcastle West extremely close, the first round saw Claughaun suffer a heavy defeat to Kildimo-Pallaskenry. We raced into an early lead of 0-6 to 0-1 in the opening quarter. Donagh Kelly was first on the scoreboard with Claughaun soon levelling. Another point from Donagh along with a point from half back Sean Kilbridge and a brace of frees from Dylan Quirke made for the perfect start. Further points from Oisin Woulfe, Mark McCarthy and John Riordan had the Abbeyfeale men leading by seven points as we neared half time but a Claughaun goal late in the first half saw our lead back to four. Scores were at a premium for the first 20 minutes of the second half with both defences on top. Adding three further points to the scoreboard, Claughaun with just one in reply left six points between the teams with the finishing line in sight. Claughaun needed a big reply and with five minutes to go they rattled the net for a second time to resurrect their chances Fr Caseys held their nerve and kicked the final four points of the night to march to a hard-fought seven-point victory. The senior championship now breaks until mid August.

GALTEE GAELS

Limerick SFC: The senior footballers travelled  to Ballyagran on Friday night last for round two of the Senior Championship.  Having won in round one, hopes were high that they could make it two from two. Ballysteen who had lost their opening draw and had other ideas. They were very fast from the throw-in and raced  into a 1-4 to 0-1 lead in no time. The game was played in very windy conditions which did not help either team. By half-time Ballysteen were ahead 1–7 to 0–5. Galtee Gaels improved a lot in the second half and got to within a point but that was as good as it got as Ballysteen were able to get away every time their grip on the game was threatened. They ended up running out winners in the second half on a score of 1-14 to 0-13. It is six weeks until  the third round where Galtee Gaels will play Adare who have two wins from two.

Australian Gaelic Football: For one former Galtee Gaels, it was a good weekend as Sean McGrath lined out with Michael Cusacks in Sydney who won the New South Wales intermediate football championship final on Sunday last. Limerick JFC: A great win to continue our strong start to the season against Monagea. A strong first half had us 2-6 to 1-2 with the only blip being the concession of a converted penalty against the run of play. Facing a strong breeze in the second half, we knew the importance of minding the ball. Our clever use of the kick pass allowed us to work up the field where our forwards showed they brought their shooting boots. Further great impact from the bench saw us power home to a 3-10 to 1-4 win. Well done to all players and management and backroom team. Bord Na Nog Results: U13 Hurling Division 1 - Monaleen 2-4 Murroe-Boher 1-4.

MUNGRET ST PAULS

U15 Hurling: We were very tight for numbers when our recently crowned Féíle football champions lined out against Monaleen at home in the Division 1 group. There were only 15 players available and very tired bodies ready to play. Monaleen put up the first score but Mungret St Pauls hit the net early on in the game to take a lead and with the help of another goal in the second half we proved too strong. We kept Monaleen to only two points in the second half when we dominated the play to take a much needed win. The Division 3 team were also down on players but filled the gaps with younger players as they took on a very strong Caherline team in Caherconlish. The backs put in a tough game as they were worked very hard, while our forwards kept going for scores, converting seven of them. Caherline led throughout but our players never dropped their heads and kept playing with determination. There are still five more games to play for the Division 3 team while our Division 1 team are currently in fifth place with three games to play. The next match for both are on July 17.

Condolences: Our deepest sympathies to the Mullins and Carey families on the sad passing of Valerie, mother to player Aoife Carey, to Valerie's sisters Claire and Mariann and brother Patrick and their extended families, neighbours and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

U19 Hurling: In the first match for the U19 Hurlers we were hosts to Na Piarsaigh. This game saw both sides in control at different stages throughout. Mungret St Pauls started strongly building up a four point lead but in less than a minute Na Piarsaigh levelled the game with a goal and a point. With a second goal for Na Piarasigh they took a slight lead but not for long as Mungret St Pauls hit hard with our own two goals in less than a minute, this gave us a six point lead at the break. Mungret St Pauls kept topping up their scores as Na Piarsaigh started to break through and take on their own scores. Near the end of the game Mungret St Pauls took their foot off the pedal as Na Piarsaigh netted their third goal of the game but with time up and a five point lead it was Mungret St. Pauls that took the victory in this game.  This win now sees them play Ahane in the next round this week.

U17 Hurling: Our U17 Division 2 hurling team played Glenroe in Mungret. The first half was an even game with both sides taking shots at the uprights, Glenroe opened their score with a quick goal, by half time there was only one point separating both sides, Mungret St Pauls the point behind. The next quarter played similar to the first half with little between the two sides, it was not until the last 15 minutes that Mungret St Pauls hit their stride and powered ahead to win by six points. This was a great first game in the Championship. The next match is away to Bruff in early August.

Limerick IFC: It was a wet breezy night when our Intermediate footballers played Pallasgreen in Claughaun. This was a game that saw Mungret St Pauls settle quickly into the pace of the game as they took on scores from all angles while Pallasgreen relied on frees for their scores. This was a second win for our players as they now share the top position with Gerard Griffins in the group as they wait for the next match against Rathkeale in the middle of August.

Limerick JFC: On Sunday last in Rathbane our Junior A footballers played St. Patrick’s. This was a very one sided game where our players dominated the play. After two matches Mungret St. Pauls top the group on scoring difference while they prepare for their next match in mid-August.

PALLASGREEN

Limerick IFC: In the second round of the Intermediate football championship, Pallas proved no match for a good Mungret St Pauls side in Childers Road. A very young Pallas side were gallant but succumbed to a 2-18 to 0-3 defeat. NA PIARSAIGH

Limerick Hurlers: Massive congratulations to the Limerick senior hurling team who qualified for yet another All Ireland senior hurling final following an excellent win over Galway. This team continues to break records and we are so proud to have four brilliant representatives in the squad. Mike Casey, Will O'Donoghue, Peter Casey and Conor Boylan all saw action in a pulsating game. We wish all concerned the very best wishes as they prepare for the challenge of Kilkenny in two weeks. We also had representatives on the underage squads over the weekend. The Limerick U14s stopped off in Moneygall to take on Tipperary on their way to Croker and had a great outing. Shane Waters and Daragh Kirwan were our representatives on the squad. The Limerick U15 hurlers were also in action where they faced Galway in Gort also on the way to Croke Park and had a great win. We had Conor Bermingham, Danny Sheehan, David O’Keeffe, Marcus Murphy and Alex Kearns all in the squad. Well done to all the teams.

Limerick SFC: Our senior footballers were back in action in round 2 of the championship when they travelled to Mungret to take on Adare on Friday evening. It was a close affair especially in the first half with the strong breeze at our backs in the opening stages. We played some good football in those opening 30 minutes and got some excellent scores courtesy of Dylan Cronin and Evan Egan. We did however concede a sucker punch of a goal before the break to undo all our good work. We began the second half against the breeze and again created many openings and should possibly have raised a green flag or two ourselves. Adare showed their experience and slowly pulled away but not for the valiant effort from our lads. Final score was Adare 1-10 Na Piarsaigh 0-4. Team: Eoghain Sherlock, Diarmuid Ryan, Shane Walsh, Ralph Leonard, Reuben McCarthy, Cathal McMullen, Evan O’Brien, Ruairi O’Connaill, Ronan Houlihan, Kevin Nolan, Evan Sweeney, John Moloney, Dean McLoughlin, Dylan Cronin, Evan Egan. Subs: Tom McKeon, Brian Burke, Christy O’Hagan, Cian Harrington, Conor Killian, Derek Grimes, Jack McCarthy, Jamie Wilson, Sam Jordan.

U13 Hurlers: Our U13 hurlers opened their campaign when they travelled to Kilmallock to take on the locals. A tough game with no quarter asked or given. We unfortunately came out on the wrong side of a 1-7 to 1-4. A good performance with lots to work on for the weeks ahead.

Summer Camp: We held our first part of a two week summer camp last week with some excellent skills on show. We wish to thank all our coaches who gave great support all week and also thanks the kids and parents for again supporting our camp. Week 2 will be held from August 21 to 25.

All-Ireland Final Tickets: Now that the Limerick senior hurlers have qualified for the All Ireland Final our draw will add extra spice this week. With tickets at just €5 it will surely be a popular seller this week. Draw takes place next Monday evening July 17 at 10pm. First prize is two All Ireland hurling final tickets plus €300 and second prize is two All Ireland football final tickets plus €300. Get your ticket today from any committee member.

ST KIERAN'S

Limerick SFC: St Kieran's were defeated by Newcastle West by 0-12 to 1-6 in Round 2 of the County Senior Football  Championship at Askeaton Gaelic Grounds on July 7. The strong wind made it a difficult evening for the players with the county champions adopting better and spreading their scoring over the two halves. They led by 0-7 to just one point converted by Dylan Moloney  for St Kieran's at half time. They were double scores ahead 0-10 to 0-5 entering the final 10 minutes. An Alan Daly cracker of a goal made the closing stages exciting, but Newcastle West held out for the victory. Both teams were missing players for various reasons. The championship will take a break now until mid-August. Team Craig Mac Innes, Aaron Heffernan, Donal Nolan, Johnny Mc Carthy, Diarmuid Mulcahy,   Michael Shanahan, Brendan Mc Carthy, Mossie Shine, Cormac Mann, Sean Ryan, Michael Long, Adam Lacey, Eoin Mc Enery, Dylan Moloney 0-2, Alan Daly 1-4. Subs Kevin Guina, Anthony Molyneaux,  Anthony Mullins.

Rounders: Congratulations to St Kieran's junior ladies’ rounder's team who defeated Castletown Liam Mellows 9-4 at Emo County Laois in their first match this season. Team Emma Galvin, (Captain), Sandra Larkin, Grainne Enright, Stef Downes, Siobhan Halligan, Nathalie Bezus, Lorraine Flavin, Aisling O'Sullivan, Katelyn Hayes, Deirdre Ambrose, Majella O'Connor. Coach Michael Sheahan.
