Special mention to Colm Barry who leads the charge and ensures that everything gets done and gets done right.
Bord na nOg: Ahane u14s played their Division 1 league semi final v Monaleen on Wednesday evening last in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale. This was a tight game and went to extra time. Ahane showed great composure to take the win and spirits were good going into the final v Glenquin Gaels. The team competed hard for every ball and never gave up. Some great goals but Glenquin Gaels had the edge and came out on top. Congratulations to a strong Glenquin Gaels side.
Thanks to all the coaches, mentors and volunteers who helped out this evening. Thanks also to all parents and family members who came out to support the boys. The team did the club proud, well done to them all. Twenty four boys represented Ahane in beautiful sunshine on Thursday with very competitive games against Bruff, Murroe-Boher and our super hosts Monaleen. Well done to our U11 hurlers who played away to Ballybrown in warm conditions on Tuesday evening. We fielded two teams who each played two matches. Both sides showed great skill in what were competitive games. Thanks to Ballybrown for having us and thanks to our coaches and the parents who travelled. Well done to all the players.
Senior Camogie: Our senior team made it six out of seven wins in the League on Friday as they got a four-point win over Crecora in Mackey Park. Ahane’s opening scores came from Sarah Cosgrove and Judith Mulcahy before Fiona Herbert slotted home for a goal to make it Ahane 1-04 Crecora 0-04 after 15 minutes. Sarah and Fiona tacked on another point each before Crecora got their next score. They then went on to score three points on the bounce and closed the gap to three points. The best point of the game came from Ann Kennedy who struck the ball on the ground, first time and it sailed high and over the bar! Crecora got the final score of the half to leave it as Ahane 1-07 Crecora 0-07. Again, it was points from Judith and Fiona that got the second half underway. Sarah scored a great point and Crecora kept their scores ticking over too. Ahane’s next three points came from Fiona, Sarah, and Judith respectively. Crecora then scored five points with no reply, but Ahane weathered the storm well and Sarah Cosgrove once again stepped up and steadied the ship with a lovely point. Molly Hussey added her name to the score sheet before Crecora scored the final point of the game. Full time Ahane 1-14 Crecora 0-15. Ahane have now secured a home league semi-final on July at 7pm. Their opponents are yet to be confirmed.
U12: A fantastic evening for our u12 girls in Galbally on Thursday last. The girls showed great skill throughout the game. The excitement increased when the girls saw the one and only John Kiely. John was fantastic to take time out to talk to the girls and to take pictures with them. Some of the coaches were super excited to meet the main man also!.
U14: A super win for our U14 girls in the playoff game against a very strong Bruff team in the Mackey League. A fantastic game of skill, determination and unbelievable scoring from both sides was on display. Our girls never gave up and left everything on the pitch. Well done girls on a great team performance.

GALTEE GAELS
Field Works: As is normal around exam time the playing fields are very quiet. Galtee Gaels took time to do a major job on the training area and behind the goals, it was ploughed and sanded over to give a better surface in poor weather. It was also seeded with grass seed, developed for playing surfaces. Many of the younger people must have felt they were at the seaside with so much sand. All are looking forward to the new training area after the grass growth.
Senior Football: The team travelled to Ballyagran Wednesday night last, to play St Kieran's in the county league semi-final. They were minus a couple of key players and took a heavy beating. The conversion of five goals was a big load to carry as they went down by 5-13 to 1-11. Let’s hope they’re back to full strength for the first round of the championship on the week ending July 2.

MUNGRET ST PAULS
Junior Hurling: It took extra time, penalties and then sudden death to separate ourselves and Ballybrown in an epic contest. Unfortunately for Mungret St Pauls, we were not on the good side of the result after all determination and efforts put into the game. A horrible way to end the league final in Claughaun on Saturday, June 10. After a tight first half, Ballybrown finished the stronger side to go in at the break with a four-point advantage. Mungret St Pauls went point for point in the opening quarter and the game remained a tight one until the final stages when we scored three points to force extra time.
The game finished with both sides on the same score after extra time and it was now onto penalties as both teams regrouped. It was all square after the five penalties each and it was Ballybrown that nicked it in sudden death.
MACKEY LEAGUE: Our U14 Mackey team saw off Ahane on Monday night in a great performance at #MSPCamogie HQ to advance to the plate semi-final.
SHANNON LEAGUE: On Tuesday, June 6, our U14 Shannon team played Kildimo-Pallaskenry. The girls battled hard but their opponents left with the win for a finish. Captain on the night was Emma Fox.
U12 CAMOGIE: There was a great buzz around #MSPCamogie on Thursday night when our U12s welcomed Croagh-Kilfinny Camogie Club for a couple of great games. Both clubs fielded two teams which is a huge testament to the working going on behind the scenes in both areas for these deserving girls! Well done to all the players, a thoroughly enjoyable night of camogie for all.
U14 HURLING: It was a damp evening on Wednesday, June 14 in Mick Neville Park when our U14 Division 2 Hurlers took on Bruff in the Final. This was a great game from all the team as the defence closed in on the Bruff forwards putting a stop to many of their scoring chances and our forwards took their shots when they got their chance. The work was all done in the first half. The trophy was accepted by captain Jonathan Byrnes.
JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Well done to this team on winning the County Intermediate Football League with a big win over Cappagh on Monday evening, June 19. The team had beaten Camogue Rovers in the semi-final and then eased to victory in the decider in Askeaton.
Conor O'Dea: Malin Head to Mizen Head. Day 1 - 21 riders set off from Malin Head at 9:45am in beautiful sunshine. This journey took them down through the fantastic views of the Inishowen peninsula. They passed through Carndonagh and Lifford finishing day ones trip in Enniskillen. Conditions varied from hot to humid with a few thunder showers thrown in to keep the dust down. Day 2 struck out from Enniskillen Tuesday morning on the journey south.
Crossed over the border early eventually passing through Ballinamore, Carrig-on-Shannon, Castlerea and finishing to a huge welcome from Conor’s home town of Tuam. Conor was joined by many friends and family members out on the road with the initial group of 21 almost doubling by end of day. Day 3 departed from Tuam heading for Limerick. Conor O'Dea was joined on the cycle today by many local friends. Passed down through Oranmore, Crusheen and Ennis with great support along the way by friends cheering Conor on. As we approached Limerick our numbers swelled even more, arriving in Limerick at the hub to a great turnout including many of the kids that are assisted by Down Syndrome Ireland. Day 4 saw the group leave the South Court early for the 165km trip to Bantry. This was always going to be the biggest challenge of trip.
The warm weather of the week stayed with us as we crossed the County Boundary into Cork. The Rebel County threw up many challenges including agricultural machinery to negotiate, disgruntled dogs, gravely road surfaces and of course plenty of steep climbs. These weren’t a bother and Conor arrived in Bantry tired but happy this major hurdle has been overcome.
The final leg of Conor’s epic week saw him complete the relatively short but no less challenging 40km leg from Bantry to Mizen Head. Congratulations to Conor and his group for completing this special week and a big thanks to all those who helped make this happen, to those that cheered us on and those that contributed to this worthy cause, you can still donate. For details head to our social media pages.
