LIMERICK Legends will face an All-Star hurling selection team this August in aid of Crumlin's Children's Hospital. It is the second year of the game that is the brainchild of Alan Foley. He raised €21,000 from the game last year and is hopeful that this year's game can be even bigger.
Foley came up with the idea of helping the children in Crumlin after his daughter Mollie spent some time at the Dublin hospital.
The game is set to take place on Sunday, August 6 at the home of Mungret St Pauls GAA Club. The game will be followed by a function in the Greenhills Hotel on the Ennis Road where the High Kings will be performing.
Tickets for the game are €10 for adults, €5 for U16s and U5s can enter for free. There is also a golden ticket option that will give you entry to both the match and the event at the Greenhills that will cost €50.
There will also be a presentation before the match starts to the Limerick All-Ireland winning team of 1973 to mark the 50th anniversary of their win over Kilkenny. A raffle will also take place immediately after the game in the Westward Ho Bar and Restaurant.
Limerick and Tipperary legends played in last year's game and this year's contest promises to be an even better occasion. Once again, Richie Bennis will be in charge of the Limerick side, while Tipperary's Conor O'Donovan manages the All-Star selection.
Limerick had a star-studded panel for last year's game that included the likes of Ciarán Carey, TJ Ryan, Steve McDonagh, Mark Foley, Ollie Moran and Tom Condon.
The All-Star squad is a closely guarded secret at the moment but Eoin Kelly has been confirmed as their team captain. Condon is set to lead the Limerick team out for the game.
