LIMERICK'S senior hurlers will have home advantage in the Allianz Hurling League semi-final when they face Tipperary on Saturday next.
The game has been fixed for the TUS Gaelic Grounds this weekend as Limerick go in chase of a first league crown since 2020.
John Kiely's side made sure of a last four spot with an 11-point victory over Wexford yesterday afternoon at the Ennis Road venue.
Goals from Kyle Hayes and Aaron Gillane helped Limerick to a comfortable win but the Limerick manager was displeased with how flat his side were throughout the contest.
"It was a very unsatisfactory game really," Kiely told reporters after the full-time whistle. "It failed to ignite. It was like a game that never got going.
"It lacked intensity. It lacked rhythm. It lacked flow. It was what it was. We coped well with it in the second half, in that we got a firm hold on the game. We were solid. We just kept tipping away and wearing it down and got the result.
"There were a lot of frees and stoppages in the game. We can't control all of that. For many aspects of the game, we were happy but we would have liked to have got more rhythm and flow into the game.
"At times that's on us. There were too many unforced errors and passes that didn't get completed. A lot of work for us to go back to this week."
The Limerick manager added that both Cian Lynch and Sean Finn were unavailable for selection due to 'minor' knocks. Kiely further confirmed that David Reidy is still a few weeks away from action but progressing well in his recovery from a hamstring injury picked up against Clare in Limerick's second league game.
Elsewhere, the Limerick senior footballers have been relegated from Division 2 of the Allianz Football League following a 3-10 to 2-7 defeat against Kildare in the second game of the day at the Ennis Road venue yesterday.
Mark Fitzgerald's side were well off the pace in the first half but produced a vastly improved showing after the break that ultimately came up short.
Limerick's next opponents, Clare, were also relegated by virtue of Kildare's win. The two sides now face a ‘dead rubber' fixture when they meet in their game in Ennis this coming Sunday.
