Organised by the Salesian Secondary College students in Pallaskenry, the event in the Woodlands House Hotel, Adare, raised funds for ADAPT Domestic Abuse Services in the Mid-West

A FUNDRAISING event organised by students in aid of ADAPT Domestic Abuse Services will go towards supporting the vital service in the Mid-West.

Leaving Certificate students from Salesian Secondary College in Pallaskenry organised the annual charity lunch, featuring a prosecco reception, music from Paddy O’Neill, along with entertainment from John Madigan and Kevin McCarthy and a four-course lunch, followed by a fashion show.

There was also an appearance from the Junk Couture World Designer of the Year winners.

The event in the Woodlands House Hotel and Spa was well supported by the school community, parents and families.

Students were involved in organising the event, the entertainment, as well as sourcing raffle prizes, liaising with local businesses and the wider school community, who supported the raffle generously with spot prizes.

Teacher Therese Hogan who helped to coordinate the event said: “On the day itself, the students were actively involved in hosting duties, modelling a showcase of the Spring/Summer collection available from Aisling Maher Millinery and Boutique.

“Students were also selling raffle tickets and engaging with guests, ensuring the smooth running and overall success of the event. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment to supporting such an important cause were clear to all in attendance.

“While the final total raised is still being calculated, the event has already proven to be a significant success in aid of a vital community service. Gillian Baker from Adapt spoke to the gathering on the work and services of the charity and how these funds will be gratefully utilised.”

She added that a formal cheque presentation will take place at a later date, led by Therese Hogan and Jayne McMahon along with the committee.

The school and organising committee thanked everyone who contributed, through sponsorship, prize donations, attendance, and support to make the day such a memorable and impactful event.
