ŠKODA unveils the ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback.
The latest addition from the Czech car manufacturer continues the most comprehensive model offensive in the company’s history.
Positioned between the Fabia and the Octavia the Rapid Spaceback will compete in the high-volume family hatch back segment. The Rapid Spaceback offers exceptional spaciousness for front and rear seat occupants and 415 litres of luggage capacity in the rear. The volume seller is expected to be the 1.6 TDI, 90 bhp that can also be ordered with a DSG automatic transmission. Petrol engines are also offered in the form of the 1.2 MPI, 75bhp and two turbocharged 1.2 TSI units producing 86bhp and 105bhp.
Commenting Alicia O’Connor, Head of Planning, ŠKODA, said: “The new ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback is strategically very important for ŠKODA. Until now ŠKODA hasn’t competed in the family hatchback segment that accounts for nearly 20% of the Irish car market. With dynamic styling and generous interior spaciousness the Rapid Spaceback is certain to attract younger customers to the ŠKODA brand.” The Rapid Spaceback will celebrate its premiere at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show and is scheduled to arrive in show rooms in Ireland in November 2013.
