Tourism Business Owner
Why have you decided to run in the Local Elections?
I’ve been running Kilmallock Medieval Tours for the last number of years, and every time I try to engage with the Council on basic issues, I meet a brick wall. I am running because I want to bring more honesty and transparency to the Council. I’m also a father of a young family.
The decisions made in the Council over the next five years will impact me and my family. We need new voices in there who represent families like ours.
Why should people vote for you?
I will be an open book for my voters. I promise to keep people updated on what is and isn’t being done within the Council. I am not beholden to the older parties, so I can promise to represent the people of Cappamore-Kilmallock and bring their concerns to the Council and the Joint Policing Committee. I will be available to my constituents, and won’t disappear for five years like so many others.
What do you think is lacking in your area and what will you be campaigning for?
Towns like Kilmallock lack basic public transport routes. I will campaign for increased bus routes and the reopening of rural railway stations. Oola, Cappamore and Pallasgreen lack community supports and supports for small businesses.
I will be campaigning to set up community hubs to provide necessary services. We also lack a proper tourism plan for the region.
I will campaign for a new tourism plan that supports and markets our beautiful and historic area nationally and internationally.
