Principal and deputy at Limerick Community Special School represent city in Laois
THE leaders of Limerick's newest school have attended a major conference in Co Laois.
Deirdre Bourke, principal of Limerick Community Special School in Mungret and her deputy principal Niamh Cooke were in Portlaoise.
They were in attendance at the anual Education and Training Board Ireland's symposium for community national schools, community special schools and community hospital schools and their senior staff.
The event, on April 16, facilitated dialogue aboutleadership and management across schools under the tutelage of the Education and Training Board.
It saw a keynote from National Parents Council chief executive Aine Lynch and had a variety of peer-to-peer workshops, with experienced principals sharing advice with delegates.
Limerick Community Special only opened last September.
Currently with 30 students, it caters for children with a moderate general learning disability and complex needs, and children with autism and complex needs from four to 18 years of age.
