Larysa Gerasko, Ukraine's ambassador to Ireland
THE University of Limerick (UL) is hosting a series of events on Thursday, February 19 to mark the upcoming fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The guest of honour is Her Excellency, Larysa Gerasko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Ireland who will meet with acting UL President Shane Kilcommins before the opening ceremony for the Unissued Diplomas exhibition at the university library.
Unissued Diplomas honours the memories of Ukrainian student war victims who tragically will never graduate but who are eternally honoured through this international initiative.

Public events will feature Yaryna Chornohuz a member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a talk titled The Strength for Steel, Bullets, Bandages in the School of Medicine at 1pm reflecting on her experiences as a combat medic and another talk later in that evening titled [Words] as Weapons focusing on the combat medics award-winning poetry in the Kemmy Business School at 6pm.
Event organiser Dr Niamh Cummins, Associate Professor in Public Health, School of Medicine said, “On behalf of the Ukrainian community we’re honoured to host these very special events in UL which powerfully demonstrate the devastating impact of war on young lives while also highlighting the deepening humanitarian crisis in Ukraine”.
“Unissued Diplomas will be on display in Glucksman Library until March 10 and is open to the public through advanced booking.
