Two childcare facilities in Limerick are set to receive a combined €1.25 million in funding
TWO Limerick childcare facilities are set to receive a combined €1.25 million in government funding to create nearly 100 additional early learning places, as part of a national drive to expand access to affordable childcare.
Riverside Early Childhood Centre in Limerick city will receive €500,0000 to help provide 61 childcare places and Banogue Community Creche in Croom will be allocated €750,000 to provide 35 childcare places.
This funding is part of the Building Blocks Extension Scheme, which funds additional places in both
community and private early learning facilities. It will support existing private and community early learning and childcare providers to extend, purchase or build new premises.
Local Cabinet Fine Gael Minister Patrick O’Donovan TD said the funding of €25 million to deliver 1,500 additional early learning and childcare places across the country will be a huge boost for parents searching for a place for their child.

“I’m delighted to see that two childcare facilities in Limerick will benefit from this additional funding.
“Having access to affordable, high quality, flexible childcare is crucial for families in Limerick, to support families to balance work and care responsibilities. This funding will help childcare providers continue to carry out their excellent services.
Minister O'Donovan added: “It is expected that the projects that received funding will begin in the coming months, with many of the additional places coming on stream towards the end of the year.
“We know that investing in high quality early childcare reaps rewards later in life. Parents in Limerick
can be reassured that Fine Gael is doing everything we can to deliver quality, affordable, and flexible
childcare places."
