Drunk woman resisted arrest and told garda to f*** off, Limerick court hears

GARDAI had to use pepper spray on a drunk woman who was resisting arrest and told an officer to “f*** off”, Newcastle West Court heard.
Jodie Kinsella, aged 35, of Lisheen Park, Patrickwell pleaded guilty to threatening, abusive, insulting behaviour and intoxication in a public place.
Garda Peter Lowe said he was on mobile patrol on June 7, 2023 when he received a report at around 11.15pm of a dispute between two parties at Templegreen, Newcastle West.
“Ms Kinsella was highly intoxicated and unsteady on her feet. She was attempting to start a fight. We made numerous directions to her to leave the area. She was roaring and shouting.
“She told me to ‘f*** off’ and tried to push me away. She began resisting arrest and pepper spray had to be used,” said Garda Lowe.
Inspector Barry Manton, prosecuting, said Ms Kinsella has 48 previous convictions including two for threatening, abusive, insulting behaviour and one for intoxication.
Ted McCarthy, solicitor for Ms Kinsella, said his client is “a single lady”.
“She has several children. She doesn’t have a partner. There is a history of mental illness. There is an underlying issue,” said
Mr McCarthy. Judge Carol Anne Coolican convicted and fined Ms Kinsella €350 for threatening, abusive, insulting behaviour and took the intoxication offence into account.
