THE CHARLEVILLE teenager who died in a tragic accident while on holidays in County Kerry on Tuesday has been described as "a gentle, kind-hearted, and considerate young person who radiated warmth and positivity".

A post on CBS Charleville’s social media account said: “It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our dearly loved student, Darragh Byrne.”

It continues: “Darragh was a bright and uplifting presence in our school community – a gentle, kind-hearted, and considerate young person who radiated warmth and positivity.

"Whether in the classroom, walking our corridors, or spending time with his friends, he left a meaningful and lasting impact. His generous nature, intelligence and talent inspired all who knew him.”

The school opened on Wednesday for his classmates to gather, be together and to chat about Darragh. A book of condolences was opened and students also wrote little memories of Darragh on pieces of paper. 

The social media post said that Darragh will be deeply missed by his friends, his classmates, and all the staff at CBS Charleville. 

“His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, and he will be remembered with great affection and sorrow.Our thoughts, prayers, and love are with Darragh’s family – especially his parents James and Siobhán. 

“We cannot imagine the depth of their grief, and as a school community, we will stand beside them with support and care in the days, weeks and months ahead.

His memory will forever live on in our hearts and hallways. May Darragh’s gentle soul rest in eternal peace. 

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”

Many people expressed their condolences in the comments section with one saying, Darragh was “a young boy with a great future ahead of him”.

Another wrote: “What should have been a lovely family day out turned to tragedy.”

A mourner said: “May your darling boy rest in peace.”

No funeral arrangements have been announced to date.
