LIMERICK gardai are investigating an incident involving bogus tradesmen in Dooradoyle.

Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station said:

“On the evening of the 10th of July, a man in his 40s reported that three men called to his home in the Dooradoyle area offering to carry out roofing and garden work. A payment was made through Revolut, some work was started but never completed, and the men failed to return.”

Gardaí in Roxboro are investigating.

Sgt O’Halloran explained: “My advice is never to feel pressured into agreeing to work on the spot. Always take your time, seek recommendations from family or neighbours, get a number of quotations from different companies, and check that the contractor has a legitimate business.

“Avoid paying large sums upfront, particularly for work that hasn’t been completed. If someone calls unexpectedly and you’re unsure, simply say no and close the door. And if you have concerns about suspicious callers in your area, please contact your local Garda Station straight away.”
