The now 23-year-old, who cannot be identified, has pleaded guilty to three charges

A young man will be sentenced later in the year after he admitted threatening to distribute intimate images of his former partner.

The now 23-year-old, who cannot be identified in order to protect the victim’s anonymity, was arraigned on three charges before Judge Colin Daly at Limerick Circuit Court.

He pleaded guilty to harassment, assault and threatening to distribute intimate images of his then partner.

The offences took place on dates between January 1, 2021 and October 30, 2022. It was disclosed during the procedural hearing that the assault occurred in March 2022 at a location in the Munster region.

After the defendant entered his guilty plea, his barrister asked that a probation report be prepared and that reporting restrictions be imposed.

Upon hearing brief facts, Judge Daly agreed to adjourn the matter to a date in late October, to facilitate preparation of the report.

He will hear detailed facts and defence submissions before imposing sentence.

The victim will also be offered the opportunity to deliver a victim impact statement.
