Man charged following drugs seizures in Limerick village

Patrick Byrnes appeared before Limerick District Court

A MAN has appeared in court charged in connection with two significant drugs seizures at his home in County Limerick.

Patrick Byrnes, aged 38, of Woodpark, Castleconnell was brought before Limerick District Court this Friday evening having been formally charged at Henry Street garda station shortly before 5pm.

Detective Garda Declan O’Halloran of the divisional drugs unit told Judge Marian O’Leary the defendant, who was arrested at his home at around 4.30pm on Thursday, made no reply when charged.

Mr Byrnes is accused of having cocaine with an estimated street value of €70,000 at his home, on Thursday, for the purpose of sale or supply.

He has also been charged in connection with a seizure of cannabis worth around €40,000 at the same address on June 9, last.

Again, it is alleged he had those drugs for the purpose of sale of supply.

There was no garda objection to bail subject to Mr Byrnes complying with a number of conditions.

He must surrender his passport, sign-on daily and supply details of his phone number to gardai.

Investigations are ongoing and all matters were adjourned to next March for DPP’s directions.
