Suspected burglar arrested by armed gardai from Limerick

Members of the armed Regional Support Unit were deployed during the search operation

A YOUNG man has been charged with burglary offences following two break-ins on the outskirts of the city over the weekend.

The suspect, whose aged in his late teens, was arrested in the Moyross area following the burglaries which happened in the Old Cratloe Road area of the city in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Garda have confirmed members of the armed Regional Support Unit were deployed to assist local gardai during a search operation after the alarm was raised at aorund 1.30am.

“A man located in the Moyross area was arrested and conveyed to Mayorstone Park garda station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984,” said a garda spokesperson.

The youth was subsequently charged and released on bail pending a court appearance later this month.

Investigations in to the break-ins are continuing.
