A DATE has been set for the trial of a 59-year-old Limerick man who is accused of murdering another man in the city earlier this year.

Desmond Coyle, who has an address at Davis Street is charged with murdering Calo Carpaci on May 24 last at Roches Row.

The 58-year-old, who was originally from Romania, died at University Hospital Limerick (UHL) as a result of injuries he sustained during a stabbing incident at the laneway – between Roches Street and Thomas Street – at around 1.30 in the afternoon.

Following the brief procedural hearing at the Criminal Courts of Justice, Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy set November 26, 2018 as the date for Mr Coyle’s trial before a judge and jury.

The defendant is originally from St Laurences Park in Garryowen.
