In December 2025 the man received a five years sentence for burglary and unauthorised taking in the circuit court - which he is currently in custody for.

Solicitor Darach McCarthy said that his client was honest and forthright when interviewed by gardaí.

The solicitor said that Mr Kelly is “a heavy addict” and that his last conviction for driving without insurance occurred “quite some time ago” - in 2018.

Judge Patricia Harney banned the man from driving for 10 years, and convicted and fined the man €1,200 for driving without insurance and a licence.
