A MAN has been convicted for driving at a speed of 140km/h at the N18 road at Coonagh, Limerick.
Radu Ciubuc, 35, with a home address at Oakleigh Wood, Sluggary, Limerick, pleaded guilty to speeding on May 13, 2025 at Limerick District Court.
Solicitor Tom Kiely, defending the man, said that while there’s no excuse for the offence, Mr Ciubuc stopped his car and fully cooperated with the gardaí.
Prosecuting Sergeant Denis Waters told Judge Patricia Harney that Mr Ciubuc was disqualified from driving at the time of the offence.

The court heard that Mr Ciubuc has two previous convictions - one for having no insurance on his car, and one for failing to produce a driving licence.
Judge Harney cautioned the man: “If he’s convicted again, he may find himself in considerable difficulty”.
Judge Harney convicted and fined Mr Ciubuc €250, giving him three months to pay the penalty.
