A 27-YEAR-OLD man was caught with no insurance for his car by a garda in Bruff, Limerick.
Barnabas Balough, with an address at Bottomstown, Limerick, was stopped by Garda Dermot Hallett on the Crawford Road at Bruff on August 23, 2025.
Garda Dermot Hallett detailed in his evidence to Newcastle West District Court that the man “did not comply” when he was stopped, and was charged with failure to produce insurance.
An interpreter was sworn in so that Mr Balough could have proceedings communicated to him.

The solicitor detailed that the man has no previous convictions, and was driving to work at the time of the offence.
Mr O’Donnell asked the judge for her discretion.
Judge Carol Anne Coolican convicted and fined the man €500, giving him five months to pay the fine.
The judge told the solicitor: “You must point out to him if he’s convicted again he will be disqualified.”
