A MAN has been disqualified from driving for 15 years for road traffic convictions.

Viatlie Cabac, 40, with a home address at Woodpark, Castleconnell, Limerick, was observed driving while using a phone by a garda on the N7 Ballysimon Road, July 15, 2025.

Upon questioning, it emerged that Mr Cabac did not possess a valid licence on his person or car insurance.

Mr Cabac later presented a licence at Roxboro Garda Station, however, the licence was Moldovan. He also did not pay the initial fine for driving without a seatbelt.

Mr Cabac had twelve previous convictions, including three for no insurance. The man had previously been disqualified from driving for ten years at the circuit court in 2024.

In mitigation, defending Solicitor Sarah Ryan said in this instance the man was driving because of an emergency and that the man is employed “working in the construction industry”.

Judge Patricia Harney convicted and sentenced the man to four months imprisonment, disqualified the man from driving for 15 years, and imposed a €1,000 fine.
