GARDAÍ are investigating thefts from cars in Limerick city and Abbeyfeale, after vehicles were entered and items stolen when they were left unlocked.
Sergeant Aoife Bannon from Community Policing at Henry Street Garda Station stated:
"On Tuesday night last, the 6th January, in Abbeyfeale, a gentleman parked his car up outside his house and went inside for the night. On Wednesday, when he went to go about his day, he realised that someone had been in his car overnight and had taken some items."
Sgt Bannon added: "Unfortunately, the car was left unlocked, someone saw their opportunity and they took it."

The gardai are appealing to anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in Abbeyfeale to make contact with Abbeyfeale Garda Station on 068 300 10.
There was another theft on Tuesday, January 6 in Limerick city.
Sgt Bannon said: "A lady parked her vehicle in the John’s Square area of the city for only about forty minutes. Unfortunately, this vehicle too was accidentally left unlocked. In this time, someone managed to get into the car and take a number of items belonging to her."
If anyone noticed anything suspicious in this area on January 6, between the hours of 5pm and 7pm, gardai are encouraging them to contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212 400.
"We want to take this opportunity to encourage listeners not to leave any valuables in their car—especially not in plain sight," commented Sgt Bannon. "Even small things can attract the wrong attention. And we also want to remind everyone listening – even if your car is in your driveway or on a quiet road, please lock it."
