Cannabis plants valued at €8,000 were found by gardaí in a man’s home in Kilmeedy, Limerick’s Newcastle West District Court heard.
Giving evidence was Prosecuting Inspector Gearóid Thompson, who said that An Garda Síochána were present in the area for another matter when they found the marijauna plants at Mr Enright’s home.
Inspector Thompson said that Mr Enright was "cultivating cannabis” in his living space.
38-year-old Simon Enright of Ballynoe, Kilmeedy did not appear in court on this occasion, despite being called, however Solicitor Michael O’Donnell appeared on his behalf.

In his defence, Solicitor O’Donnell said that Mr Enright has been smoking cannabis for 20 years, and that the drug was for his own "personal use", rather than for sale and distribution.
Speaking on Mr Enright's possession of the drug, Solicitor O'Donnell added: “He has become an expert to his own detriment".
In light of Mr Enright's absence, Judge Carol Anne Coolican directed the court to adjourn the matter to February 13, 2026 “to see how he’s getting on”.
