Shotgun and drugs seized in garda raids over gun attack in Limerick

GARDAI in Limerick have arrested four men in connection with the investigation into a gun attack in the city and seized a gun and drugs.

A garda spokesperson said An Garda Síochána continue to investigate an incident where a firearm was discharged in the Hyde Avenue area, Ballinacurra Weston, on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

“During the course of follow-up searches in the south side of Limerick city on Wednesday, a double barrelled shotgun and suspected cannabis herb to the value of €17,000 were seized, along with weighing scales and other drug dealing paraphernalia,” said a garda spokesperson.

The operation was conducted by detectives attached to the Crime Office at Roxboro Road garda station assisted by the Regional Armed Support Unit, Divisional Drugs Unit, Divisional Search Team and Southern Region Dog Unit.

The firearm and drugs seized are now subject to forensic and technical analysis.

“All four arrested men - two aged in their late teens, and two aged in their 20s - are detained at garda stations in the County Limerick area, under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

“This brings the total number of people arrested in connection with this investigation to seven,” said a garda spokesperson.

Investigations are ongoing.
