LIMERICK gardai have dealt a hammer blow to organised crime after a major seizure of drugs worth over €500,000 and taking 200 rounds of firearms ammunition off the streets.
Gardai seized cannabis, cocaine, cash and arrested three individuals as part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in County Limerick.
A garda spokesperson said gardaí from the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit, in conjunction with other Limerick Regional Units, stopped a vehicle in the Galvone area of Limerick city on Tuesday.
"During the search, gardaí discovered cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €30,000.
"A follow-up search was conducted at a nearby premises. During this search, gardaí recovered an estimated €350,000 worth of cannabis, €150,000 worth of cocaine, approximately €30,000 in cash, close to 200 rounds of firearms ammunition and other drug-related paraphernalia," said a garda spokesperson.

Three men — two in their 40s and one in his 30s — have been arrested in connection with these seizures. All three are currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1996, at garda stations in the Limerick Division.
All of the drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for further analysis.
"Investigations are ongoing," said the garda spokesperson.
