Man arrested and charged following on-foot chase by gardaí in Limerick

TWO INCIDENTS on the same night in Limerick have prompted gardaí to launch investigations, with one person subsequently charged. 

A man in his 40s has been arrested and charged in Limerick following a chase that led to the seizure of his vehicle.

Gardaí confirmed that the man will appear in court at a later date.

"Shortly after 8pm on Thursday, April 10, gardaí on routine patrol in the Ballinacurra Weston area of Limerick city attempted to intercept the driver of a car that had raised their suspicions," a statement to Limerick Live reads.

"When prompted to pull in, the driver evaded gardaí and a managed containment operation followed.

"The driver and a passenger later fled on foot. One man, aged in his 40s, was subsequently arrested. He has since been charged in relation to this incident and will appear before the courts at a later date. The vehicle was seized at the scene."

In an separate incident on the same night, gardaí said they received a report of an alleged public order incident in Garryowen, Limerick city at approximately 9:20pm.

While they attended the scene at the time, they said "no complaints were received" and "enquiries are ongoing".
