Gardai investigate suspected petrol bomb attack in Limerick

A SUSPECTED petrol bomb attack took place outside a home in a built-up Limerick city estate, gardaí have confirmed.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred outside a residence in Kileely on Thursday night, February 27.

"The incident occurred at approximately 9:25pm when an improvised device containing an accelerant was thrown at a domestic residence," gardaí confirmed.

"Damage was caused to a vehicle outside the residence. No injuries were reported."

A technical examination of the scene has since been conducted by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.

Investigating gardaí are appealing to anyone with information relating to this incident to come forward.

In particular, An Garda Síochána is interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen a small, white hatchback car in the area at the time of the incident.

Any road users in the Kileely/Thomondgate area between 9:00pm and 9:30pm with video footage (including dash-cam footage) are asked to make this available to Gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Mayorstone Park garda station on 061 456 980, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.
