Limerick gardai investigate arson attack on home in latest feud-related incident

THE LATEST feud-related incident on the southside of the city was an arson attack in Garryowen on Wednesday.

It follows similar incidents in Southill and Ballinacurra Weston in recent days and weeks.

Gardaí have confirmed officers were alerted to an incident of criminal damage by fire that took place in the early hours of Wednesday, February 12 in Garryowen.

“The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 am at a domestic residence. No injuries have been reported at this time.

“Investigation is ongoing,” said the garda spokesperson.

The firebomb attack occurred some 48-hours after a pipe-bomb was thrown at the front entrance of a house at O’Malley Park, Southill but failed to detonate.

A garda spokesperson said the “improvised explosive device” was “thrown at a domestic residence” at around 11.30pm on Monday.

"No injuries have been reported at this time. Gardaí have conducted a technical examination of the scene.

"Anyone who was in the O'Malley Park estate between 11pm and 11:45pm on Monday, February 10 is asked to contact the investigating gardaí. Anyone with mobile phone or dash-cam footage is also asked to make that footage available.

"Gardaí can be contacted at the Roxboro Road garda station on 061 214340, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station. The investigation is ongoing," said the garda spokesperson.

On February 2, a pipe bomb was thrown into the rear garden of a house at Hyde Road, Ballinacurra Weston.
