THE DRIVER of a car that rammed into a garda vehicle to try and evade arrest was hospitalised.
It followed a pursuit by gardai after the car failed to stop in the Kilteely area of east Limerick on Thursday night. There have been no reports of injuries to any members of An Garda Siochana.
A garda spokesperson confirmed gardaí attended the scene of a road traffic incident.
"A vehicle that was being driven dangerously failed to stop for gardaí in the Kilteely area of county Limerick on Thursday, February 6.
"The incident occurred at approximately 8pm. The vehicle collided with a garda vehicle. The driver, a male in his 20s, was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing," said a garda spokesperson.

A video of the aftermath has been widely shared on social media. It shows a number of garda vehicles in the middle of the road, officers studying the scene and other cars.
The section of Kilteely's Main Street was cordoned off for a number of hours for technical examination.
One local told Limerick Live: "There was awful commotion. There were a rake of garda cars, sirens blazing and lights flashing. We didn't know what was after happening."
