A TEENAGER has been arrested and charged in connection with a road traffic collision which saw a car he was driving launched into the air.

A number of parked vehicles were damaged in the incident on William Street in Limerick city just after midnight this Monday.

Footage has been widely shared on social media of the incident which appears to show the car in question clipping a kerb and flying in the air before colliding with vehicles that were parked up on the street. No injuries have been reported.

A garda spokesperson said officers were alerted to a vehicle driving suspiciously in the Upper William Street area of Limerick city on Monday, December 9.

“The incident occurred at midnight. The driver of the vehicle, a man in his late teens, failed to stop when requested by gardaí. The vehicle then collided with another vehicle, which was unoccupied at the time,” said the garda spokesperson.

Gardai say the teenager has since been arrested and charged and was due to appear at Limerick District Court this Monday.

“As this is now a matter for the Limerick District Court, An Garda Síochána cannot provide further comment,” said a garda spokesperson.
