GARDAÍ are investigating the circumstances surrounding a car fire in a Limerick city housing estate. 

A car damaged by fire at a house in Carew Park, Southill, has prompted the garda investigation.

Gardaí confirmed that they attended the scene of an incident in the early hours of Friday, October 18.

The scene has now been preserved in the built-up city estate for technical examination this Friday afternoon.

In a statement issued to Limerick Live, gardaí said: "Gardaí attended the scene following report of an incident of criminal damage by fire, involving a car, at a property in Southill, Limerick city.

"The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, October 18. The scene has been preserved for technical examination."

Investigations are ongoing.
