Drugs destined for Limerick seized by Revenue officers at Shannon Airport

INVESTIGATIONS are underway following the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal drugs at Shannon Airport, some of which were destined for addresses in County Limerick.

As a result of risk profiling, Revenue officers in Shannon seized 3kgs of herbal cannabis during an operation last Thursday, January 14.

The drugs, which were discovered concealed in a number of parcels, have an estimated value of €60,000.

According to a Revenue spokesperson, the parcels originated in the USA and were destined for addresses in Counties Limerick, Cork and Tipperary.

Local gardai have been informed and the drugs will now be sent for further analysis.
