Two arrests made following shooting in Clare village

TWO men have been arrested by gardai following a violent incident in County Clare at the weekend.

A man, aged in his 50s, was hospitalised after a firearm was discharged in the Deerpark area of Ennistymon shortly after 6pm on Sunday.

Video footage of the incident has been widely shared on social media and WhatsApp and gardai say they are aware of several incidents of criminal damage.

"Shortly after 6pm, a number of persons were in the Deerpark area of Ennistymon in possession of a number of
weapons including at least one firearm. Extensive damage was caused to a number of domestic residences and
vehicles," said Sergeant Triona Brookes.

Gardai have confirmed that two men, both aged in their 20s,were arrested in the Ennistymon on Monday evening and that they are currently detained at Ennis garda station under Section 30 of Offences against the State Act.
