Video of woman being kicked in the face on busy Limerick street goes viral

Alleged assault on busy Limerick city street

A snapshot of a circulating WhatsApp video wherein a woman has been assaulted by the man dressed in black

VIDEO footage of a woman being assaulted in broad daylight on a busy street in Limerick city centre has been widely shared on social media and WhatsApp.

In the footage, which it's understood was recorded on Tuesday afternoon, a man can been seen kicking the woman in the face.

The incident was witnessed by a large number of people including women and children and one woman can be seen with a buggy in the footage, which has been viewed thousands of times.

The alleged assault occurred outside one of the busiest areas in the city centre, Arthur's Quay shopping centre, in broad daylight - during what is a busy time for tourists.

The footage which has been shared shows another woman running after the perpetrator and the video continues with both females and the male shouting and continuing to be physical with each other as those involved moved around the corner, across the road from Arthur's Quay Park.

A busy season for tourists in the city, and with a heavily-used bus stop across the road from the site, many onlookers stopped in their tracks as the incident took place.

A query regarding what happened has been submitted to An Garda Siochana and a response is awaited.
