Investigation underway following theft of bus in County Clare

Images of the stolen bus have been widely shared on WhatsApp

GARDAI have confirmed they have recovered a bus that was stolen in County Clare in the early hours of this Wednesday morning.

The white Volvo Bus, which was taken from the Friar’s Walk Coach Park in Ennis, was subsequently located in the Ballymorris area of Shannon, shortly before 7am.

The vehicle has since been removed from the scene and will be subjected to technical and forensic analysis.

“No arrests have been made so far, and enquiries are ongoing,” said a garda spokesperson.

Images and messages widely circulated on social media and on WhatsApp suggest the bus was abandoned after it was damaged while being driven under a bridge close to the N18.

Gardaí have asked that anyone with dash cam footage, or who may have witnessed a bus travelling erratically overnight between Ennis and Shannon, to contact them.

Ennis garda station can be contacted via 065 6848100.
