UP TO 2,000 children are expected to take part in the second annual Barrington’s Hospital Great Limerick Run over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
This is the second year of the children’s event and numbers participating will be capped at 2,000 children, aged from four to 12 years of age. Online registration is now open for the event which will take place on Saturday, May 3 on the grounds of the University of Limerick, the day prior to the main race day. The UL Sports Kids Run will feature four race distances from 1K, 1.5k, 2k and 2.5k .
Speaking at the launch, Phelim Macken, co-ordinator of the Limerick Sports Partnership, said through their association with the event, “we are aiming to get the whole family involved in the Barrington’s Hospital Great Limerick Run over the course of the May Bank Holiday Weekend, and in doing so encourage people to adopt a healthier lifestyle especially at a young age in a way that is fun for everyone involved.”
Registrations for the not-for-profit Kids Run for Fun are now being invited on www.greatlimerickrun.com. Each child will receive a GLR T-shirt, medal and refreshments. The T-shirt and medal are the same as those provided to competitors in all the runs that weekend.
