YOU DON’T have to be a motorcycle enthusiast to take part in CARI’s bike run as you could win a motorbike.
The event to raise funds for CARI’s Limerick centre takes place at 11am from O’Connell’s Bar, Annacotty on Saturday, June 22.
Mary Madden, of CARI, says all the money raised will go directly towards the provision of “our therapy services for children and families in Limerick”.
CARI assists and empowers children and young people in the region affected by child sexual abuse to claim back their happiness, their innocence, and their bright and strong future.
Like all charities their income has reduced in recent years due to the recession, but demand for their services hasn’t.
They respond to and reach out to those affected by abuse and supports them during the recovering process, endeavouring to ensure that the child sexual abuse is seen as an experience but not a defining event of the child’s life.
Limerick is the only full-time centre outside of Dublin.
The bike run will leave Annacotty, head to Roscrea, then Birr and back to Bedford Row in Limerick city and home to O’Connell’s in Annacotty.
“If you are interested in helping CARI raise funds for our services please come along on the day.
“It will be a family day with a chance to see fabulous bikes in the morning, on the way or at the finish,” said Ms Madden.
You don’t even have to be a bike enthusiast but you could be after the event if you win one.
“Whether you are a biker, have a bike, haven’t got a bike, come along and talk to the lads and ask questions.
“There is also a raffle for a bike on the day. You never know, you might be a biker yet!
“Bring the kids along get some pictures. Tickets are €10 and are available from Windmill Motors, Crossagalla Industrial Estate on 061-316011,” said Ms Madden.
Once they leave Annacotty at 11am they aim to be back at O’Connell’s Bar at around 5.30pm. The barbecue and raffle will take place.
