AFTER 40 years of business and serving the community with fashion events, special offers, store activities and entertainment, Crescent Shopping Centre is celebrating its ruby anniversary all this week.
The celebrations have spread throughout the centre and its 90 retailers, and will continue to do so until this Sunday, November 24.
On Monday morning last, Minister for Finance Michael Noonan marked the shopping centre’s four decades in business.
As he launched the event, Minister Noonan said that the Crescent Shopping Centre has had a record of positive employment in the Mid-West region.
“I am delighted to open the fortieth anniversary celebration of Crescent Shopping Centre today,” said Mr Noonan, who lives nearby.
“Crescent Shopping Centre employs nearly 1,600 people through direct employment and has been a highly respected employer in the Mid West Region for the last 40 years.
“Over that time I have witnessed the centre go from strength to strength. The centre not only provides jobs, it acts as a retail and leisure destination and plays an important role in the hearts and minds of the local community,” he added.
Centre manager, John Davitt, said the week-long celebrations were about “thanking the customers”.
“The fortieth celebration at Crescent Shopping Centre is a celebration of everything that makes shopping here such a unique experience,” he explained.
“The celebration is about thanking our customers for their support over the last number of years and bringing the retailers together to make shopping at the centre extra special. We look forward to playing an important role in the community for another 40 years.”
Over the weekend, the Crescent Shopping Centre held a family fun day, which featured an Elverys Sports Challenge.
One of the highlights of the celebrations will be the Crescent Fashion Show on Thursday with a guest appearance from British TV host Tess Daly.
