CROOM is gearing up for its annual Christmas market, with 50 carefully curated stalls ready to showcase the best of local artisans and producers.

The market organised by Croom Community Development Association forms part of their investment in shop local and will take place on November 23. It will have artists and crafters as well as food producers from across County Limerick and a little beyond the county. This event attracts a variety of artists and producers.

Edel Fitzgerald, Croom Community Development Association event manager explained that twice as many vendors applied for a place at the craft market this year and a lot of work was put in to curate the various offerings to ensure that there is a wide range of products for customers on the day.

Two of the vendors were present at the launch for the market including Shauna Smith with her jewellery and decorations using crystals. Shauna has lots of gift suggestions and also attending was Lelia Riordan.

Lelia’s LG designs offer personalised glassware. She noted that the Croom Craft Market “is well ahead of Christmas to get items personalised.”

David Hurley, chair of Croom Community Development Association also noted that quite a bit of work goes into the event.

“From curating the potential stall holders to getting the word out about the event, as well as the set up. It is an important date in the calendar in Croom, an opportunity to see unique Christmas gifts but also a day where you can meet the neighbours and come and chat over a cup of tea and homemade cakes.”

Ms Fitzgerald explained there will be more than “tea on offer, CCDA’s own stand will have seasonal hot chocolate, and traditional mulled wine, non alcoholic of course.”

The Croom Craft Market will take place at Croom Community Centre on High Street on Sunday, November 23 from 11am to 3pm.

Ms Fitzgerald suggests attendees to make a day of it. “Take in a walk along the Maigue and have breakfast or lunch at Aubergine at Croom Town Park.”
